Hamuházi Spring

8272 Balatoncsicsó, 46°56'15.8"N 17°38'55.2"E

Description

Near the forest school of Balaton Uplands Forestry, on the border of the villages of Balatoncsicsó and Vigántpetend you can find the Hamuházi Spring. It got its name from the charcoal residue, which was Hungary’s export product in the XVIII. century, produced by the burning of the trees.

In 2003, the spring and its surroundings underwent a big renovation and today it welcomes hikers and explorers with a shelter, a fireplace and also with tables and benches. The place is an ideal location for relaxation and enjoying the proximity of nature.

Alongside the spring, there are two smaller hiking trails (3.6 and 6.8 km) that allow nature enthusiasts to explore the surroundings. It’s also worth noting that the National Blue Trail passes only 100 meters away from the Hamuházi Spring. This famous hiking trail connects the most beautiful landscapes and cultural heritage of the Balaton Uplands.
